Deadline Movie Premiere
Benefiting VOX Teen Communications
The Atlanta Premiere of Deadline, the new movie starring Steve Talley and Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts, was March 14th. Hosted by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the premiere benefited VOX.
"I give Deadline five stars," said VOX board member and Pulitzer Prize winner Hank Klibanoff. "One for the inspiring story it tells about a resolute newspaper investigation into an unsolved civil rights murder; another for the discovery of racial reconciliation inside the heart of human conflict; a third for the link between the screenwriter’s grandfather, Mark Ethridge, and Ralph McGill, the legendary Atlanta Constitution editor he launched to prominence; another for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s sponsorship commitment to VOX Teen Communications; and a final star for those who honored the other four by buying tickets for the benefit premiere! This was a win-win-win-win-win-win!"
A 5:00 VIP reception at Strip Steak & Sushi was followed by red carpet arrivals with the Deadline premiere at 7:00. A Q&A with cast members, the reporter who lived and wrote the story Mark Ethridge, executive producer Hunter Atkins, composer Dave Perkins and director Curt Hahn followed the premiere.
VOX is the only citywide teen created media in the Southeastern United States. Teens who participate in VOX develop skills for a lifetime and gain a sense of connection and community that can be hard to find elsewhere by publishing original writing and artwork in the VOX newspaper and website, facilitating workshops for peers, and leading outreach activities.
